During the 2010 China Olympics there were some serious action packed plays in all sports however the tennis is one which many people take notice of because it is a very universal sport around the world. Svetlana Kuznetsova was challenged by many players in the Grand Slam event which took her up against the worlds very best which just goes to say that she is one of this group competing against. Potentially playing against the likes of champion Maria Sharapova and Australian player Samantha Stosur, Svetlana had a lot of tough competition.

Unfortunately she did not get to be the champion of this particular event when she was defeated by Roberta Vinci. A controversial act of walking off the court was played up by the newspapers and other media however there where some tough referee calls which did upset Svetlana Kuznetsova. This match itself would have been the media focus however they chose to write their stories on the way that Svetlana left which looked as if she was being a bad sport.

In 2004 Svetlana Kuznetsova won a Grand Slam single title in the women’s tour which helped to prove the dominance of the sport by Russian players. Unfortunately Svetlana has had a few injuries which has kept her from playing in a few of the more important matches of her career though her come back into the sport of tennis was one which proved that strong players can move through the pain and get back into the swing of things with the right attitude.

Svetlana Kuznetsova vs. Andrea Petkovic

Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova and German Andrea Petkovic are two of the most popular tennis players in the world. The women’s singles match of the second round was held in Paris, France, between these two lovely ladies May 26, 2010.

Going into the match, defending Champion Svetlana was 6th in the Singles rankings and 91st in the Doubles rankings while her 22-year-old opponent Andrea was 41st in the Singles and 86th in the Doubles. Both are right handed tennis players.

In the first round of the women’s singles match, both women defeated their opponents. Svetlana defeated opponent Sorona Cirstea 6,3 and 6,1 while Andrea defeated opponent Elena Vesnina 4-6, 6-1, and 6-4.

In the second round of the singles match, Svetlana Kuznetsova was able to defeat Andrea Petkovic to continue on in the French Open and knock Andrea out. The match was quite the entertainment and all three games were very close. Andrea was so close to knocking the defending champion out of the 2010 French Open but in the end, Svetlana was able to keep track of her game and defeated Petkovic with match totals of 4-6, 7-5, and 6-4.

Svetlana Kuznetsova went on to the third round for the singles in the French Open where her luck finally came to a halt. She was defeated by Maria Kirlenko 6-3, 2-6, and 6-4. Svetlana claimed she gave the match everything she could but it wasn’t enough and that she didn’t play her best game. She was unable to defend her French Open title this year, but there is always next year.

Svetlana Kuznetsova was born in St Petersburg, Russia in the Soviet Union on June 27, 1985. Svetlana is a Russian professional tennis player. Svetlana won the 2004 United States Open and the 2009 French Open singles titles. She has also been the runner up at the 2006 French Open and the 2007 United States Open, coming second both times to the Belgian player Justine Henin. As at May 17, 2010 Svetlana is ranked at number six in the world singles female tennis players.

Svetlana’s father, Aleksandr Kuznetsov has coached five Olympic and world cycling champions in his career as a cycling coach. One of the most successful athletes coached by Aleksandr has been Svetlana’s mother Galina Tsareva. Galina is a six time world champion and holds twenty world records. Another of his award winning athletes is Aleksandr’s son Nikolay. Nikolay is a silver medalist from the 1996 Summer Olympics which were held in Atlanta in the United States of America. Svetlana also tried cycling, but found that it did not suit her and that it was boring.

Svetlana became focused on tennis and when thirteen years old went to Spain for coaching. Whilst in Spain Svetlana became fluent in the Spanish language. Her style has been described as all round. Her game is suited to all surfaces. She has a strong serve and a heavy forehand game. Svetlana is considered to be on of the more physically strong players out of the current tournament players. Her game is strong with good footwork and movement around the court. She is capable of sliding on all of the major playing surfaces. Svetlana is known for her spectacular running, passing and between the legs shots when in form, her volleys are also very effective and she has what is known as deft touch.

In 1985 there was a super star of sports born in the big Russian city of St Petersburg which of all the places for a tennis star to be born this would have been one of the best. There is great competition between the super power nations of the world and their tennis players who are all producing some very top grade players these days. Svetlana Kuznetsova is one of these great tennis players who were born in one of the great nations in the world. China, America, Russia, Korea, Australia and many other big nations like Europe and England are also big enough in population as well as sports culture to make it to the top of the tennis finals. Svetlana was a hit from her very beginning which took her quite far up the ladder on her very first year in the tournaments around the world. Reaching a top ten ranking for women was a great effort for Svetlana who had to work hard and train long hours to make the grade.

The 2004 US open was a thrilling match to watch as Svetlana worked her way to the top to win the games in straight sets against a very formidable opponent. She also played very well in the 2206 French open and later in the 2007 US titles too. He father was a champion tennis coach as well as an Olympian cycling coach who had many young and talented athlete under his wings. For Svetlana she was no doubt going to be a champion of the game having such a strong home influence from her father. Between the two of them there was nothing that they could not accomplish as Svetlana made her way to the top of the charts of the tennis opens and other international tennis tournaments.

Now one of today’s most famous tennis players we can see a lot of Svetlana Kuznetsova in the summer time as she takes on the world at her best skill in the tennis arena. She is a talented sports person who has made a lot of big improvements to her game over the last few years proving that she has what it takes to work her way to the top of the ladder. With good looks and a great sports body we are all hoping that Svet will make an appearance on one of the sports calendars so that we get to enjoy looking at her for even longer than the games.

The boys love it when Svetlana gets all that and sweaty in her games against the other great tennis players of the world which is part of the attraction of watching the tennis. These ladies are so fit and muscular that the outfits they wear on the court are like watching same futuristic fashion parade brought about by the Venus twins. Svetlana Kuznetsova is Russia’s tennis player who won the women’s singles that were held in June 6, 2006 and was the 2009 French Open tournament. This was not her first win because she has won previously the women’s singles tournament at the US Open in the year 2004. She was born in June 1985 at Saint Petersburg in Russia. She resides in Monte Carlo Monaco. This tennis sensation is a strong contender in most of the tournaments that are being held of late. She is a person to watch when she is playing, as she is ever strong through out the competition.

Svetlana Kuznetsova’s career path started way back in 2000 when she joined the women’s Tennis Association. (WTA).  In the same year, she won her first title; at the same time taking home wins at some of the tour stops which included Bali and Helsinki. In 2003, she saw more success coming her way. In that year, she reached the quarterfinal at Wimbledon. She was the runner up in the US during the doubles tournament at the US Open. In September, she reached the seventh place in the double rankings.

During the 2004 Summer Olympics, she competed but was eliminated in the semifinals. Svetlana Kuznetsova went on to win the US Open in 2004 and by the end of the season she was ranked fifth on the singles chart category. Many things occurred in the year 2005 when she finished the season ranked 18th. She was really humiliated by this but she was determined to climb up once more.  During the US Open tournaments that were held in the year 2007, she returned for the finals, but was later defeated by Justine Henin and thus she finished that season ranked in the second place.  During the Olympics of 2008, she made her second appearance but was defeated in the first round.
